Oculofacial, Orbital, and Lacrimal Surgery: A Compendium
Medical Art Resources Certified Clinical Anaplastologists Julie Jordan Brown and Megan Thomas contributed to a 2019 text, Oculofacial, Orbital, and Lacrimal Surgery, edited by Cat Nguyen Burkat, MD and Adam J. Cohen, MD. Our chapter, Oculofacial Prosthetic Rehabilitation and Osseointegrated Implants discusses prosthetic restoration of the eye and eyelids (orbital or oculofacial prosthesis). The text is now available as an eBook or hardcover.
The chapter highlights the importance of collaboration between the anaplastologist and medical professionals involved in each patient’s treatment. Ongoing communication between the anaplastologist and surgeon is critical to a successful prosthetic outcome which depends on surgical preparation of the orbital defect and optimal placement of craniofacial bone-anchored implants. We were thrilled to be included in this outstanding resource and appreciate the opportunity to share information about anaplastology and prosthetic treatment options.
